NORTHWEST OB/GYN is honored and excited to provide exceptional obstetric care for your pregnancy. Our experienced physicians and nursing staff will provide you with information and support through your pregnancy, delivery and postpartum period.
A healthy baby and pregnancy begins with preconception care. We are happy to consult with you in anticipation of your family planning and discuss nutrition, family history, medical history and any fertility concerns. Please let us know when you come for your annual gynecology care if you are contemplating pregnancy.
Once pregnant, your 1st prenatal visit typically occurs at around 8-10 weeks from the first day of your last menstrual period. At this time, a history and physical exam will be performed, your due date will be established, lab work will be drawn , and you will receive education regarding your pregnancy. In an uncomplicated pregnancy you will be seen once in the first trimester then the frequency of follow-up visits is determined by the individual needs of the woman and an assessment of her risks. Fetal heart tones, blood pressure and monitoring of baby’s growth will be checked each visit as well as any other labs and ultrasounds deemed necessary. Generally, a woman with an uncomplicated pregnancy is examined every 4 weeks for the first 28 weeks of pregnancy, every 2-3 weeks until 36 weeks gestation, and weekly thereafter. Certain high risk pregnancies may require more frequent visits or testing. We also provide information on childbirth classes, newborn care and breastfeeding.
NORTHWEST Ob/Gyn is affiliated with Riverside Methodist Hospital, a level three maternity center which is the highest level of labor, delivery and neonatal care available as determined by the Ohio Department of Health. We are available to provide emergency care 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, every day of the year including holidays.
